Hello, my name is Li. I am a photographer and designer. I love Polaroids, notebooks, pancakes with maple syrup, the homely aroma of steamed rice, sunny days, quiet adventures with my backpack and cameras and walking bare feet. I have spent some of my life in Singapore and Australia and I currently live in the UK.
As a photographer, my work is about inspiring others to find beauty in the ordinary. My cameras help me to take notes and record the beauty found in the random moments in our everyday life, in the fleeting moments that whisper “look at me!”, and in the way the light moves and dances and cast shadows. I am also drawn to creative and living spaces and always curious to observe how our environment inspires and evolves with us and how the things we own (or do not own) are three-dimensional self portraits of who we are and who we aspire to be. My photographs capture the details that curate our lives and they tell the stories of everyday moments.
I shoot with my iPhone, 35mm cameras, DSLR and when I discovered the Polaroid SX-70 in 2007, I have not look back! It remains my medium of choice. My fondness for Polaroids is in the beauty that comes with its ‘imperfections’ and how it truly is a collaboration. As the photographer, my role is to compose the shoot and set the exposure. The camera does the other half of the alchemy – a process I have no control over, infusing my elements with the chemicals in the film to produce an image that is one of a kind and cannot be replicated.
As a designer, I make beautiful things. I play with typography, colours and images and put them together to make beautiful things to help businesses curate thoughtful brands. I can also create pieces for special personal occasions. I am excited about thoughtful brands that tells your story and connects you with your audience! Beautiful things delight me and I hope the beautiful things I create for you bring joy and delight to you too. I’d love to hear from you – about a creative work enquiry or if you just want to say hello.
